Magnetic shielding is used to contain the static magnetic field generated by an MRI scanner. This field can extend beyond the scan room, interfering with nearby medical equipment, elevators, or devices such as pacemakers. To ensure safety and regulatory compliance, MRI vendors define the extent of allowable fringe fields—commonly setting a 5 Gauss boundary—and specify where shielding is required within the room’s structure.
Without appropriate shielding, the magnetic field can disrupt surrounding systems and pose safety risks. That’s why MRI rooms must often be lined with magnetic steel in the walls, floor, and ceiling to ensure the field remains within controlled limits.
Imaging Solutions installs magnetic shielding systems in strict accordance with the designs and field modeling provided by MRI equipment vendors. We do not perform magnetic analysis or field mapping, but we ensure flawless execution of vendor-supplied specifications.
